Mentor Onboarding Process Overview

Thank you for your willingness to serve as a mentor with HOPE365plus. Below is a brief overview of what to expect in the coming weeks—or whenever you're ready to begin.

Step 1: Biographical Survey

Shortly, you will be asked to complete a biographical survey. This information will help us match you with a potential mentee based on shared experiences, interests, and future goals.

Step 2: Begin Classwork

While we review your biographical information, you'll have the opportunity to begin your training. The primary course is a required mentoring class for all HOPE365plus mentors, provided in partnership with Man in the Mirror. This six-lesson program can be completed in three to six sessions.

Step 3: Mentee Match & Initial Meeting

Once your survey has been reviewed and we’ve identified a potential mentee match, we’ll coordinate an introductory meeting. This is not a formal evaluation, but rather a starting point for your mentoring relationship. While we hope for a strong fit, we understand that not every match may be ideal.

Step 4: Targeted Online Training

After confirming your role in a specific project area, you’ll be asked to complete a short, targeted online training. This will cover key program guidelines and expectations to ensure a successful mentoring experience.

Step 5: Meeting Reporting

In some programs, our partners require regular updates on mentor-mentee meetings. We offer a simple, web-based reporting tool accessible via phone or computer. Submitting a report takes less than 30 seconds, and no formal training is required—just follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 6: Quarterly Debriefings

Once per quarter, we’ll invite you to join a debriefing session via Zoom or in person. These sessions last about one hour and typically include 3 to 12 mentors along with a trained facilitator. They are a great opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, gain insight, and receive ongoing support or training.

Examples of and Introduction

Lisa

Hi, I am Lisa, a wife and mother of three. One still in college, and the other two are well on their way to living out a wonderful life in Christ with their respective mates. So far I have two grandchildren and am hopeful that there will be more.

I have worked as a dental hygienist for 17 years and before that I worked in the restaurant industry here in Orlando. I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and when I have time, a bit of community theater.

I am honored to teach a women's Bible study in a church home-group, and I sit and pray with the babies during church every third Sunday.

I want to be a mentor because I value any opportunity to help a woman be strong and obedient to the Lord as we are commanded in Titus 2:3-5. I look forward to meeting you and sharing into your life for a year.

Don

I am a 56 year-old Christian man originally from Phoenix, AZ who now resides in Jacksonville, Florida. I currently work for a shipbuilding and repair company at JAX PORT as a ship-fitter supervisor.

I have a BS in engineering from the University of Michigan and have worked at seaports up and down the East coast.

I have been married for 32 years and have 3 adult children.

I enjoy serving my church and community and have been mentored and have been a mentor two times. I enjoy sharing what I have learned about being a christian man, husband, and father. I am far from perfect, which has helped me become very close to the Lord as I know how much I need Him.

I look forward to meeting you and, if we agree, spending time with you for the next year - or more. I hope you like to fish and eat BBQ.
